Beer Bread Bowls for Soup:
Mix beer bread as directed, put in a round cake pan, or two smaller
round oven proof pans if you have them on hand for individual servings.
Bake according to directions and let cool to room temperature. Slice off
top and reserve, cut a round circle 2 inches from the outside and bottom
to hollow out bowl, reserve this bread and cube to be dipped in the soup.
Baste inside the bowl and the outside as well with olive oil, sprinkle with
parmesan cheese if desired and bake in a 350 degree oven for 20
minutes until starting to brown. This will seal the bread so that it will
hold the soup. Ready to pour in the soup and serve.
Another idea is to put the beer bread mixture in muffin tins, 2/3 full
and bake, follow the rest of the directions on basting and baking, this
will allow you to have individual, dip bowls or salad bowls, even soup
bowls if you use the mammoth muffin tins. You can find them at Walmart.
What a neat idea for a special occasion. Would be great with soups for
an appetizer.
